Frequently Asked Questions About Importing Listings

General Questions

The biggest advantage is that you don’t have to spend any time on creating and maintaining your listings. Your inventory is continually updated for you, so all you have to worry about is managing requests from buyers. The import usually reads your import source (e.g., your online shop) on a daily basis, so you only need to make changes in your online shop.

Your listings are typically imported once a day.

We support multiple data formats, including direct website import, XML, and JSON. We recommend that you provide your data in XML format for optimal compatibility. You’ll find more information in our Listing Import Guide.

Technical Requirements

We offer different types of imports, each with its own set of requirements. A detailed explanation of the technical requirements can be found in our Listing Import Guide.

Yes, if you already have an API set up, no additional modifications are required.

Please note: Even if we import listings from your API, the import process currently only takes place once a day. There is therefore no continual bidirectional synchronization between the import source and Chrono24.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your personal contact.

Listing Requirements

Each listing should include at least the following: reference number, model name, manufacturer, year of manufacture, scope of delivery (original box and papers), case material, bracelet material, dial color, winding mechanism, condition, description, handling time, and photos. You can find more detailed information on listings requirements in our Listing Import Guide.

Every listing on Chrono24 must contain at least one photo. Because the number and quality of listing photos has a significant impact on its appeal to potential buyers, we recommend providing at least eight high-quality photos. Do not use catalog photos for pre-owned watches, and make sure your photos do not contain any watermarks, logos, or personal contact information.

The recommended minimum resolution for the photo zoom feature on our platform is 1600 x 1200 pixels. Photograph the watch against a neutral background and under ideal lighting conditions.

You can find more detailed information on photo requirements in our Listing Import Guide.

Import Procedure

Once your import source (e.g., your online shop) meets our requirements (which can be clarified in advance in a personal meeting), our technicians will develop a customized program for you. By default, this program imports all available watches once a day from the import source you specify. It takes about 2–3 weeks to set up the import, depending on our IT workload. Of course, your free trial will not begin until you have set up the import.

Yes, you can also provide a file containing the listings you want to import (see Importing From a Public or Private Feed). For more information about the formats we accept and a sample XML file, see our Listing Import Guide.

A warning is triggered if the recognition rate for one or more details in an import

  • drops more than 10% from the last import, or
  • drops significantly for more than 100 listings.

Example 1: Compared to the last import, more than 10% of the listings in the current import lack information about the case material. In this case, a warning is triggered.

Example 2: Compared to the last import, more than 100 listings in the current import are missing information on the winding mechanism. A warning is also triggered in this case.

Note: Warnings do not affect your active listings. This means that your active listings will remain active after the import.

For watches, missing basic information can lead to lower quality listings, which can negatively impact visibility for those listings. It’s important to complete any information listed in the column “Missing information.” This improves the quality of your listings and boosts visibility to potential buyers.

For accessories, missing basic information has no effect on the quality of the listing.
