With your help, Chrono24 has grown markedly in recent years. Experience tells us that demand for hassle-free buying and selling is on the rise.

Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to reconcile the sometimes divergent expectations of buyers and dealers. For example, buyers may interpret information regarding availability and delivery times differently than you do, or you may expect more from a buyer in terms of reliability. Waiting for payment leads to unnecessary reservations and significantly more admin on your part.

As the world’s leading marketplace for luxury watches, our goal is to create the best possible conditions for reliable transactions for both you and your customers. That’s why we’ll be introducing a few changes to the way watches are bought and sold on Chrono24.

The more binding the transaction, the greater the satisfaction – for buyers and dealers

Going forward, we want to enable dealers like you to sell your watches easily and without any fuss. We also want to make sure that everyone’s expectations are met in terms of reliability, availability, and delivery times.

We expect a significant increase in binding, high-quality purchase requests and a decrease in the number of orders canceled because of delivery delays. By imposing a payment deadline for reserved items, dealers like you can expect more reliable sales for reserved items.

What we're doing

In the next few months, we’ll be changing the way watches are bought and sold on Chrono24, in order to create a marketplace that is more reliable, fair, and ultimately more lucrative for you.

For example, we want to make sure that buyers know when to expect the items they’ve ordered. That’s why we’re replacing the existing availability settings with a new setting for handling time. The handling time is the period between receiving payment and handing the item over to a delivery service.

This setting requires you to enter whether an item is in stock and can be sent immediately, or needs to be procured and can only be sent at a later date. Based on this information, we automatically calculate the delivery time, so your customer has a timeframe for the delivery.

We’re doing this because we want every watch listed on our marketplace to be available for purchase, and not simply listed as available “on request.”

We’re also working on making purchases more binding. That’s why we’re imposing a payment deadline that requires buyers to pay for items within a certain period of time. If a buyer does not pay for an item by the time their reservation expires, the item will be made freely available for purchase again.

  • First and foremost, finding the right buyer will become much simpler. Potential buyers will know from the get-go whether they're willing to wait for a watch based on the delivery time in the listing. This will cut down on unnecessary communication and misunderstandings.
  • Furthermore, you can expect buyers to pay for items sooner, since they will now be required to pay for an item within a limited period of time. If a buyer doesn't make payment prior to the deadline, another buyer will be able to purchase the item.
  • You'll also profit in the long run from your reliability. Dealers who enter correct handling times and meet their shipping deadlines will be rewarded with a higher ranking on Chrono24. Inaccurate information and missed deadlines, however, will result in additional fees.
  • Accurate information results in customer satisfaction, and customer satisfaction results in better dealer reviews.
